We’re very excited to be launching our first ever Children’s Poetry Competition!

We’re asking children to show us how creative they are by writing us a short poem about an animal. It can be a real or imaginary animal, silly or serious, rhyming or non-rhyming – up to you! All we ask is that your poem is an original piece of work, and that it is between 12 and 20 lines long.

The competition is open to all children aged 3 to 9, and you don’t have to be a Storytime reader to enter.

The best entry will get printed in Storytime, so the winner will become a published author in an international magazine. We’ll even commission some illustrations for the winning poem. Plus we’ve got a bundle of poetry books to give away too.

The entries will be judged by leading children’s poet Brian Moses. He’s sold over one million books, given over 2,500 poetry performances, taught in schools all over the country, and even written a poem for the Queen!

To enter, print out this entry form to write your poem on, or alternatively you can photocopy or tear out the form from Storytime issue 25, and either email it to hello@storytimemagazine.com, or post it to:

The Editor, Storytime, Studio 2B18, Southbank Technopark, 90 London Road, London SE1 6LN.

If you’d like some additional inspiration we have a poetry pack that you can download for free here.

Closing date is 12th October 2016, for full T&C’s click here.
